Paypal - Virtuemart or Magento?

My client has the basic Paypal setup through virtuemart. They now want to change to Payflow as they think they are loosing sales because of the extra steps etc.

I have noticed that Paypal haven't got Virtuemart listed in there third party carts they support but they have Magento.

Should I be looking at Magento instead of Virtuemart? I don't want to but if I know that Paypal are going to work with Virtuemart I could hold off the client for a bit.

The Client wants to set up another store and I am not sure if I should buy a Magento theme for the next project or not. The only factor in being Paypal payment.
