Does phpShop support payment for registration?

My client wants to have a site where users have to pay for full access to the site (non-members get access only to a select few items).

The site will be selling cooking tutorials, recipes, menus as well as cooking utensils.  I have suggested to my client that it would be better to allow free registration, but to have the recipes etc listed as actual products which users would pay for then download.

Which would be best, and how is it implemented?

I am a new phpShop user, and don't really know how to use the system - YET!!

Any help would be appreciated.  Many thanks.

I dont know how you could implement pay to register, but I suppose you could create a new user group and add people to it if they pay.

User groups can be given access to pages whch others cant see.

Hope this helps?

Thanks for the advice.  As a new user of phpShop, it may be easier for me to persuade my client to have all necessary files for her recipes etc to be made into downloadable documents that users can pay for and download until I can figure the whole thing out.

How does the downloading files bit work?

Play with it a bit.
I have not set this up personally, but basically, the customer is mailed a download code which they use to access the product. This is valid for a defined period, after which it is disabled again,
