Hi

I've been getting this problem for the last few nightly builds, on different servers:

Description:
Whenever I try to change anything using the extended layout in the firefox browser (latest version), as soon as I try to save or go back to the standard joomla admin, the browser carshes. It doesn't seem to happen in IE7.

VirtueMart Version:
VirtueMart 1.1 revision 1236

Joomla/Mambo Version:
Joomla 1.5.1

Steps to replicate:
Nothing specific, I installed it as normal and this keeps on happening.

Proposed fix(es):
No idea.

System info:
I've tried this on two sites one using php5 and mysql 5x, the other using php4 and mysql 5x
My system is windows xp

Regards

Do you happen to have the FireBug extension installed and enabled in FireFox?

Yes. I disable the firebug from extension list, shutdown the firefox  and open again firefox.
Now it WORKS, no crashes. Why firebug extension do that crash, no idea?

Any development on this topic? I remember that firebug has problems with googlemail and another web sites.
Is the problem that we all have related to VM or the firebug team should make an update?

Hi, I'm running a local development environment and started to experience the FF crashes in backend after installing VM 1.1.0 RC2 / RC3

NB: This also happens in IE 7 !

OS: Ubuntu: 7.10 Gutsy
Firefox level: Mozilla/5.0 (X11; U; Linux i686; en-US; rv:1.8.1.13) Gecko/20080325 Ubuntu/7.10 (gutsy) Firefox/2.0.0.13
(No addons or extension to FF - just a standard install)
Intenet Explorer level: 7.0.5730.13

CMS: Joomla 1.5.2
VM: 1.1.0 RC3

Problem occurs for example when showing product list in 'simple view'

Other components and parts of the CMS, as well as other FF operations seems to work fine.
Running FF on a WinXP machine doing same product list, results in a Error Message (which I subsequently has passed on to the FF community)

I suspect this is an issue with VM, since the method of exclusion just leaves FF/IE and VM, after all other instances are tested w FF/IE.

Including the Report file (created today). Hopefully it's useful...

Tried to use VM bug tracker in order to report this but it just keeps 'Loading...' and alwys ending in "Error: The Server has a problem (502)."
after inserting a new report.

We are also experiencing exactly the same problem on J1.12 and J1.5 - we have firebug installed too, it does seem to be eliminated by disabling it.

There is something fishy going on here....

Today I was configuring my component 'sh404SEF' and it too makes FF to close quicker than a maiden knees.
Same component works fine in IE7 though.

I really don't know what conclusion I can come to... no real error output, just closing FF or IE7 and only when using Joomla with certain components. (Highest impact on VM)

What is going on!!?  ???

I was scheduled for production ti'll beginning of May, but now I'm not sure anymore...

I'm heading over to Joomla community now in order to see if there is a word there.

Whish I could turn it off too, but I never used Firebug. Looked at their homepage for the first time today.

Running a 'clean' Linux installation with all versions up to date, including FF.
And this is not only isolated to FF it also affects IE7 in the same way.

I can't list products or even create a product type anymore... sigh...

And seriously, I've tried to report this as a bug all day without even understanding where to report on this site...
Yes, I've read all forum and instructions. Still I fail to see any option within BugTracker that even remotely looks like some kind of input area.

A little 'How To' would be nice, since I start to feel pretty stupid about this.

FOUND IT!!!!   :D

Installed Gnome lightweight Webbrowser'Epiphany' and then I managed to see exactly when things go south!
(Yes, it crashed too...)

It's my WYSIWYG editor 'JoomlaFCK' that doesn't load correctly anymore. (Been using this one for months wo problems...)

Running TinyMCE 2.0 or Xstandard Lite 2.0  or no editor = No problem

Now everything works with the very annoying exception that I can't edit content the way I want
At least I know where to look now...
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Update: Running JCE Editor works fine and actually has more features than FCK Editor
One small minus is that it does not show my template styles in wysiwyg... But it actually works better so ...

Just thought you liked to know.  :)
