I hope this helps someone:
I had 21 validation errors on my HTML from VirtueMart. I went in to the file virtuemart.php and changed all "&" with"&" in the file names referenced and when I revalidated, I am down to 4 validation errors.
I use Joomla 1.5.5 and VM 1.1.2
