Sort products by number - order manual or automatic by arrow

Hello to all,

I use virtuemart 3.8.4

In my shop products shoud be sorted by sort-number.

Sorting by number (1, 2, 3, .. ) is ok at first.
After clicking a sorting-arrow all sorting-numbers become changed to steps of 5 in random order.

What am I doing wrong?
Is there a switch to turn of the automatic ordering in steps of 5?

as I understand it from VM3.8 the sequence is in steps of 5 so u can easily insert others in between without having to reorder everything..

so what was 0, 1, 2, 3 is now 0, 5, 10, 15 etc

and you could insert a new item at e.g. 6
