Products not showing, broken sorting?

Hello there,

I am having an issue with my catalog.
When I add products to categories, they don't show up (Neither do they at the main catalog page)

Products do show up once you go into a category and select the sorting.
(This is not possible on the main catalog page)

Does anyone know how to fix this issue? I just want products to show up automatically, rather than having to go to a category, then sorting.

what's the "test" product at the bottom?  Is this your only product?

Yes, it was a test product.
I managed to fix the issue, it was due to the lack of a manufacturer.

You don't normally need a manufacturer to show products.

Earlier, products didn't show up until you started sorting
When looking at the sorting, I saw the option of manufacturer, so I created one
Since I have it, it works. I don't have to assign it on anything
