Display top level categories without VmArrowdown

I want to display all of my shop categories in a module but only the first level not the children. I added a VirtueMart categories module, set the level to 0 or 1, set the default layout, selected top level. It works if I'm in a VM category or product but when I open an article/contact/another non-VirtueMart page I get all of my top level categories with arrow next to them and I'm able to open the second level.
Could you help me please how should I set the module?
