Disable registration notification to vendors

Hello all,
I know this topic has been discussed for earlier versions of VM (without a solution though), but it still seems to be present in VM3...
No matter what I try, my shop owner is getting a registration notification for every new customer.
I disabled the "receive system e-mails" in the shop owner profile both in VM and Joomla.
I even have a (different) Joomla super user (not a vendor though) with "receive system e-mails" enabled.

Could someone please look at this or provide a workaround?
