Checkout twice each time

Hi,

We migrated from VM1.1.8 to VM3.x and so far so good.

Just a couple of teething problems to address:

Customers are beginning to mention that they are confused by the checkout process. They select shipping method, tick the 'accept terms of service' and click 'Checkout now'. Then  the same page appears to load and they have to click 'Checkout now' again.

I think the problem occurs because the page is automatically reloading once the terms of service checkbox is clicked. But if the page is slow, shoppers have already clicked on 'Checkout now' again. This takes them back to the page to click on terms of service again.

Is there anyway of preventing the page reloading?

Then there is the requirement to have an email send when order status is 'Pending' but that is on another thread...

the reload usually pops up a waiting icon. The reload usually prevents that people have to click checkout again.

It seems your users do not enter their address, set their shipment/payment and click the TOS,

There was no waiting icon or message. Maybe a template thing.

I solved it by disabling the TOS in shopper field and hacked the form to just display a link to the TOS.

You had to hack the form?

You did a Migration. It is very important

to learn vm3 first, without migrated legacy problems.

Because you dont know if you have a problem due the migration or a bug in vm. Furthermore, almost always if you Hack, then you do something wrong and follow old vm1 habits. The userfield TOS is a layout in the folder sublayouts and is overridable! so usually, you dont need any hack. You can also show the link by a userfield, ... you dont need to touch any file

But yes I just noticed it was missing the loading icon. So I added that. Thx

Hi,

I hear what you are saying re learning VM3. The site was tested and re-tested before we switched off VM1. But there are always going to be teething problems. I am old enough in this game to know that.

I tried reading documentation before attempting any hack.

Yeah but we have the feature to create userfields just for the cart. So also for the link, you dont need any hack.
