Hello i am using VM 3.0.2 with Joomla 3.3.6,

The site is in French language.  The Site default language is french, administrator default language french, VM language settings set to french.

I have an issue with the confirmation orders email that the client and the vendor receives.

The subject of the email looks something like this :

=?utf-8?Q?[9bc3015691],_commande_confirm=C3=A9e_par_TEST_USER?= =?utf-8?Q?R_NAME,37,10_=E2=82=AC_au_total?=

Also the body of the message do not display French charters but something like : confirmé , 37,10 €, son numéro

However the PDF attached to the email is ok.

I encounter this issue also when a new user creates an account, but this time the body of the email is ok. Only the subject of the email is broken.

=?utf-8?Q?Un_nouveau_client_bytzu00700_s'est_enregistr=C3=A9_dans_votre_b?= =?utf-8?Q?outique_Coco_loco?=

Anyone has any clue about how can i fix it?

Looks to me like a problem with a french language file of a third party plugin. The VirtueMart language files do not contain french keys like 'Un_nouveau_client_'

Note: A line in a language file consists of a language key part (for example: COM_VIRTUEMART_NEW_USER_MESSAGE=) and a string part (for example:"Hello %s, a new user has registered at %s."). So the complete line is:
COM_VIRTUEMART_NEW_USER_MESSAGE="Hello %s, a new user has registered at %s."

Can you locate the partial key 'Un_nouveau_client_' in your language files? You could use for example the free Notepad++ editor to search through all your language files.

Thank you for your reply.

the line you are talking about comes from:

ROOT\language\fr-FR\fr-FR.com_virtuemart.ini
on line 543:
COM_VIRTUEMART_VENDOR_NEW_SHOPPER_SUBJECT="Un nouveau client %s s'est enregistré dans votre boutique %s"

Thanks

Maybe a character encoding problem. First thing I would try is to download and install the latest french language files from here: http://virtuemart.net/community/translations
If that doesn't help, check the collation in your database with phpMyAdmin. Normally 'utf8_general_ci' should work. Also, check if the file fr-FR.com_virtuemart.ini is saved with the encoding 'utf-8 without BOM' . Some editors like Notepad++ allow to change that, if necessary.

Thank you for your reply. These were the first things i have checked when trying to investigate the problem.

Anyway the problem was fixed finally. It had to do with the server configuration, the mail() function was overwritten in php.ini the value of mbstring.func_overload was set to 1,2 in my case. Changing the value to 0 solved the problem.
Now everything is working fine.
