"Tweaking" Product Builder to show related products

Info:
As today i'm using the "VM Product Builder" to make a nice list of wearparts wich the user can easily order from.
What I would like is to make related products of the "chosen product" to show beneath the product, with an simple checkbox-alternative.

Example:
In my Virtuemart Products-database I have a product, Axle M40, which has an related product "Nut M40". (Se picture below)

Questions:
Is this possible with minor modification to the code, or is it a big change?
If I get this tweak to work I will send this as a suggestion to the developers of VM Product Builder for coming updates.

You should ask the developer of the product builder, as what you ask has to be done within his code.
