Category module 2.6.6 / how to disable cache or fix multilingual related issue

Hello all,

I'm on Joomla 2.5.24 with VM 2.6.6 and am having a cache related issue with the standard categories module.

On VM 2.24 we had a working multi-language system. It worked well when joomla cache was disabled. We use the Yiro "language domains" plugin which shows a different language per domain (xxxx.nl for Dutch xxx.it for Italian, xxx.fr for French). Only when cache was enabled, an issue would appear: the categories module would show the categories in the incorrect language. For example, on first site visit in Dutch, the English and Italian version of the site would subsequently show the categories in Dutch. The title of the categories box itself would be in the correct language though. Hence, we kept cache disabled, performance was OK on our VM. Ofcourse I'd rather resolve the original issue of why the wrong language would be shown, but afraid with a 3rd party involved, asking here will not help.

After upgrading to VM 2.6.6 we no longer seem to be able to disable the cache!

Could anybody please help disable the cache for this module?

The "cache" configuration option does not function.
