Problems with completing a purchase

I'm trying to find a way to make my virtuemart 2.026d work from start to end. So far it works until payment methods. I have tried the template on two different servers to make sure it's not a server problem and it makes no different what server I use.

my problem is  that when I try to finish a purchase it almost always redirects me to the shopping cart instead of the payment methods page. I have tried using both Quickpay and Paypal and the problem seems to be consistent and is the same with both systems. I can only get it to work when I log on first as a buyer and then select my products. It does usually not work if I first put some products in my shopping cart and then logon and try to buy. And it does not work if I try to buy as a guest either.

I would really want to know how to fix this problem. Any help is appreciated.

Deselect One Page Checkout in Configuration/Checkout.  There is a small bug in that method.
