Only Top level Categories showing

I cannot get the subcategories to show up except via the category module.
As a consequence, the only way to show the products of the subcategy is using the category module.

I'm using Joomla 3.4.1 and Virtuemart 3.0.6.4 in a multilingual configuration. Everything else seems to work fine, including the multilingual functions.

I hope someone can help me here. You can see the site I'm building here: http://innoserve.ch/version3/index.php/de/ - Please note, that I am using primarily the german version - i.e. the products have not been translated yet.

do you mean show all the products of the subcats of Popcorn machines?

I think the normal way is to add them to the parent cat as well..

No, I mean that the subcategories themselves don't show up. For the popcorn group here I have 6 subcategories, 3 of them I've added products, so I should be able to see the six subcategories when I click the top category - but de nada!

Silly me!
I hadn't spotted the little checkbox in Virtuemart > Configuration > Templates
where the item "Show children category" hadn't been checked.
