Joomla Searches only Products not Category Names?

I have a site that uses Virtuemart 2.0.24c as a catalogue (so no pricing etc is used).

I am able to use the standard Joomla 2.5.14 search to find products within the product categories.  However, I am unable to search on a category on it's own.

I have a couple of categories that have no products in them - they are used like articles describing the types of products that are available (until we setup products).  I really need for the search to find these pages too.

Is there something that I need to set?  Do I need to use a third party product to accomplish this?
