Shipment method settings not saved

Hello,

I am trying to create a new shipment method and when I click save the settings about weight etc are reset although i get a message that the method was saved.
I am using virtuemart 2.012b.
Is it a problem of that version or can I solve it wihtout upgrading?

What ever the cause first you need to upgrade -
VM Versions before 2.0.22c are insecure. Click for info.
