User can select his shopper group when registering - VM 2.0.10

Hi, in my new site with virtuemart 2.0.10 and joomla 2.5
I would that the user when he registering can select and assign his shopper group (ex. shopper, wholesalers,..).
Is possibile do it in the configuration of vm2? Or Must I modify the code?! if yes where and what?!

You could make a special customer field in your virtuemart configuration. Just make a dropdown list with all the kind of users you want and let them fill select it upon registration.

Then after registration you would need to manually assign each new customer to a certain shoppergroup. Do this automatically requires a bit of coding.

Bumping this issue. I understand the solution described, but it still is a workaround that takes manual effort to run. It would be really handy if users when registering could chose to belong to one of the prededefined user groups. Hope this will be developed in future releases of or beloved VM

To do this will require a plugin to be developed, so if enough of you need it a 3rd party devoper may build one for you?

I cannot see thid function being introduced to the core files, which are already too big for some people to install.
