"Default items per listing view" has no effect

Hi all,

I'm using VM 2.0.20b and Joomla 2.5.14. I would like to change the number of products per page in the category view. I thought this was done with the "Default items per listing view" setting in Configuration - Shopfront. However, changing this value had now effect.
After a lot of searching I found out, that I need to change the "Category Form Initial Display Records" setting for every single category. The default value of this setting in all my categories was 10.

Is there a way to change this globally for all categories? Can I somehow set the "Category Form Initial Display Records" to "empty" such that a global value is being applied? Or what is the idea of the two parameters "Default items per listing view" vs. "Category Form Initial Display Records"?

1. Use CSVI Improved (more user friendly) or Phpmyadmin (more hard core way)

2. Global value is used when you create new fresh category. After own birth options of this category independent from global values forever.
