Redirect to different domain

Hi,

I am using VM 2.0.18.

I have my own domain <abc.com> for which DNS are pointed to my hosting account (xx.xyz.com). When I search something in Google related to my website, it shows result with URL xx.xyz.com instead of my own domain abc.com

I checked with Google and they said its Crawling, Indexing and Ranking issue and suggested me to use 301 redirect. Since I have lot of products, I need to redirect all the pages.

Can you please let me know what should I edit in the htaccess file.

.htaccess syntax can vary between servers, so you will have to research & test. eg http://stackoverflow.com/questions/13001173/htaccess-301-redirect-from-old-domain-to-new-domain-while-structure-of-pages-an  or  http://301redirects.net/redirect-old-domain-to-new-website.php

Note, this is a hosting/domain issue and not a VirtueMart question.
