vm registration restriction / reg on invitation or password

I need somehow restrict who can register to virtuemart - is there some password protection to VM registration or registration on in vitation for VM ? I dont want everybody will be able to register only certain people... Any ideas How to do that ? My idea was that there will be key field in registration form only users with vbalid key can register. Key can be automatically generated by admin in backend. Something like forgotten password feature in joomla. Is this possible ? Thze reason is I want only certain peiople to be able to shop in VM and register.
