How do I add a different Tax rate for different states ?

I am assuming this is possible and hoping it can be set up to auto configure from the customers shipping address or billing address

For example:

A $100 order for a customer in Virginia 5% Tax = $105.00 plus shipping

A $100 order for a customer in Maryland 6% Tax = $106.00 plus shipping

A $100 order for a customer in Florida 0% Tax = $100 plus shipping

A $100.00 order for people in the below states would get charged tax at the % listed but all other states No Sales tax should be added.

If someone knows of some help topic where this is at or anything that will put me in the right direction please...

These guys have a great module to handle tax within Virtuemart.  they can handle the different tax rates within a state and keep you up to date on the latest tax rate per county and per state.

Hi, I am trying to use the Avalara vmcalculation plugin but I'm not able to get any tax info returned.

Joomla 2.5.14, VM 2.0.21b

Avalara support has confirmed that the AvaTax admin configuration is correct.  The Sales and Calculation rule is set up as per http://docs.virtuemart.net/tutorials/28-plugins-payment-shipment-and-others/75-configure-avatax.html.  Once I completed the Sales and Calculation rule, the cart displays the text "Sales Tax".  But even the cart is ready to confirm the checkout, no sales tax amount displays.

Can someone confirm what minimum version of VM I need to have a functioning AvaTax integration?  And maybe even example Sales and Calculation Rules settings?  Or is there a debug setting I can use to figure out what's going on?   I don't know where else to turn.
