What's happening with Virtuemart??

Two years ago I installed Virtuemart in Joomla! 1.5. It was easy and straight forward and I, as a novice, was able to set up a fully functional shopping website. AT that time: Virtuemart; the best solution for a webshop with Joomla!
For some reason (wrongly deleted) I lost my website on which I had created about 700 product pages.
Now I have to use Joomla! 2.5. I'm using version 2.5.11. Already trying to install the first file com_virtuemart.2.021H.zip I encounter an error message. Others have encountered the same problem and searching the forum I haven't found a solution. Here is a screenshot:

*** I try to attach - cannot! ***

When I install the second zip file com-virtuemart.2021H_ext_aio.zip, also an error message, here:

*** I try to attach - cannot! ***

It is really frustrating. I know that Virtuemart is Freeware and I know that many people have worked on it probably for free, but Virtuemart has apparently lost its appeal, that is why overall it is rated now at 3.7. I don't mean to throw stones, not at all. But at this time, after having installed, reinstalled both Virtuemart 2.021H and Joomla! 2.5. 11 several times, I feel extremely frustrated!

I have looked at Joom Shopping, that extension is easy to handle but very incomplete and every little module costs 19 Euros, a complete rip-off!

By the way, my hosting company is www.versio.nl which I believe is one of the largest, if now not the largest webhoster in the NL. Anyones help is very much appreciated!

Hi

I think that the error message is related with the permissions of your folders and files.
Check the permissions of the files which are mentioned in the info box "Couldn't move..."

The notice is displayed in every shop. It prompts you to create a safe folder where documents like your invoices will be stored. This is not an error at all.

Concluding none of this can be considered an error of Virtuemart

Thank you for your input, balai!
You're answering concerning the error message(s) after installing the second file. At this stage I haven't installed the second VM file yet, as I first want to solve problems step by step. I looked at a small tutorial concerning this problem here:
http://www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/how-to-fix-virtuemart-warning-the-safe-path-is-empty/
After following the tutorial, the error message still persists. Maybe I haven't executed the first step very correctly. The 2nd and 3rd steps are executed correctly, IMHM. My first step looks now like this:

*** again, cannot attach! ***

Yes, jFolder::create error is Joomla/server issue - for tutorial see http://www.ostraining.com/blog/joomla/jfoldercreate/

Fix this first then install both the VM component and the aio component. Then set up safe path, vendor etc.

For the safepath configuration see the FAQ. http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=98633.0

VirtueMart is not freeware as such, it is an open source project where all users may contribute to the development process. Some people are apparently unhappy with the new VirtueMart  because they have not spent time getting to grips with this much more powerful version and large amount of possible configurations. It just takes a little more time to set up properly than  the old version did.
