Can't choose or Change product Category

My Virtuemart backend appearance changed overnight.

My attached image show it's current state. My menu for product info, description, dim &wght, images and custom fields used to go horizontally now it is vertical which I can't stand.

Also, under Product information->product categories, I have a drop down box, but I cant get a selection to stay, I highlight and click and nothing happens.
Even a product that has been categorizes now comes up as uncategorized.....and I can't choose an option.

My front end is perfectly find, products are coming up in the categories correctly.

Any was to remedy this?
