Store Email Question - notification of new purchases

I have been trying to find this answer in the forum for VirtueMart version 2. I apologize if this is a redundant questions as I just cannot seem to find the answer. I am fairly new to version 2 and here is what I am running.

Joomla 1.7.3
VirtueMart 2.0.3

I am trying to understand and configure the store email notifications, first i have a joomla super user (the original site administator from installing joomla) tied to the store settings, and what I want to do is change who gets notified via email of the new purchases that come in. If I understand it correctly, i just link the existing account in the store configuration page. The user I want to tie it to already is registered in Joomla and is a super administrator too. But when i attempt to set the account in the store admin page, it says user already exists.
I also wanted to know if i do set this account as an admin, will it block my original admin account out of the store from certain things?

old post but did you resolve your issue as I'm getting a similar issue trying to change the email to a user that is already a joomla user.
Running juumla 2.5.8 and VM 2.0.10

The Shopper editor in 2.0.16d enables you to set which users can "Receive System Emails".
