User Registration Fields - Aaack!!

I'm having problems editing the registration fields. Specifically, the delimiter doesn't seem to work. (Or am I doing something wrong?) Instead of adding a nice heading, it puts text in two wrong places in the registration form. Also, I can't change the order of the fields because I always get an error message saying "can't change order because one item is checked out" although nothing is checked out. I see a few people reported problems with the user registration fields delimiter field but no solution so far. Can someone verify (just me) or is this a known bug yet? TIA, I have a new project that kind of depends on this feature.
