Custom Field - Text Input

Hi, i want to create a custom field that's a text input by the person ordering. They might put the hem length in there, or some other instruction Special instructions is what i'm going to call it. When i created a custom field and used text area it was huge. How to i put a very small text field in for special instructions?

It seems like a simple question, but somehow i don't find any documentation on it anywhere. I'm using the latest virtumart, and joomla the site is http://test.c2cuniforms.com

In VM2, add a new custom field.  Type: plugin, "Custom, customer text input".
