I need checkboxes for sub-item add-on's.

I have something like:

Item A - $100
     Add a1 - $10
     Add a2 - $15
     Add a3 - $40

I need a way to make these add on's checkboxes on each main product as each and every add on can be selected. I don't see an option to do this and have seen a few threads of people looking to do the same but never found a solution.

Any leads?

Sounds like you're looking for the dropbox plugin - http://www.kaizenmediaworks.com/virtuemart-2-0-custom-field-dropbox-plugin

If I've misunderstood, let me know. We do have an integration extension that will do what you want, but if the Dropbox plugin works then ours might be more power than you need. :)

That doesn't look like anything I need. I don't need a drop box, I need a checkbox instead of a radio button. Dropboxes you can do with Virtuemart out of the box...

The dropbox plugin lets you define a set of options once, and easily add them to multiple products. Guess what threw me in that direction was the comment about wanting to add the options to all of the products and not have to define them over and over.

You may want to check out our extension then, because it gives you the ability to use any style of fields supported in one of the best form design components for Joomla, Breezing Forms by Crosstec.

Our Breezing Forms Custom Fields extension offers a viable approach for complex custom fields, as long as you don't need parent/child products or to track stock by each of the options. It does NOT track stock by each option selected.

This extension seamlessly integrates a completely custom Crosstec Breezing Form into the custom field area of a VirtueMart 2 product. Because BreezingForms is a fully featured form development component, this means that you can do all those great things you expect from best selling form design software (including checkboxes),  then use that form as the way to capture product options and attributes for a VM2 product.

And because you are using a form design component, you can control the way the fields depend on one another for the values and the final pricing too.

If you think this sounds like it might help you, here's a link to our documentation to learn more: http://docs.polishedgeek.com/wiki/display/BFCUSTOM . There's a also a YouTube video there on the doc homepage that explains it a bit more.

We have a simple demo page here: http://klarna.polishedgeekdev.com/index.php/shop/eyeglasses/awesome-eyeglasses-detail  (still working on a demo site with several different products and examples)

You can learn more about the form component our extension integrates here: Crosstec BreezingForms http://crosstec.de/en/extensions/joomla-forms-download.html   (You have to have both VM2 and BreezingForms to use our extension).

The plugin has been vetted by the VirtueMart team and is available for sale on our website or here on VirtueMart.net (http://extensions.virtuemart.net/extensions-virtuemart-2/breezing-forms-custom-fields-plugin-detail)

I'm happy to answer any questions you have. Feel free to pose them in the forum here, or if you would prefer to discuss your requirements more privately, just open a ticket: https://polishedgeek.com/clients/contact.php

I guess I'm confused as to if that actually allows me to create check boxes. All of the add on's I have are for every main product I have. I am able to set these up as drop boxes or radio buttons with virtuemart but there is no check box.

I need checkboxes.

PolishedGeek

Breezing Forms definitely allows you to do checkboxes (and a ton of other custom form design options).  http://crosstec.de/en/joomla-forms-features.html

Our extension lets you take the forms you build in that component, and embed them into your VM2 products. So you can have any type of form element you like, including checkboxes.

I think I'd rather just find a way to modify VirtueMart to change the dropdowns to checkboxes or something.

PolishedGeek

When you do that, I'm sure some folks would appreciate you sharing the hack you come up with  here in the thread.
