How to manage url with VM2 ?

Hello,
I have migrated a website from Joomla 1.5 to 2.5 and use the last version of VM2
Before I used the plugin sh404sef to make very simple url of all the website
As the sh404sef version for Joomla 2.5 have no management for Virtuemart version 2, the url must be configured inside Virtuemart (response from sh404sef forum)
How I can have the same url with VM2 like with VM1 and the sh404sef plugin (and keep all url in Google) ?

Before my url was
for a category : domaine/categoryname.html
for a product : domaine/productname.html

Hello,

It is not possible to keep the same url with current VM2 seo capabilities. Until it is improved further you may use a 3rd party software like Joomsef, Acesef etc..

VM2 uses the Joomla menu structure to build SEF URLs. Normally you should create a Joomla menu item for your homepage and assign the menu type "Virtuemart Categories Layout" to that menu item. Then create individual menu items for all of your VM2 categories and choose "Category Layout" as the menu type.

This leads to SEF URLs like Domain/categoryname/productname-details
If you don't have many products, you can create menu items pointing directly to your products by choosing "Product Details Layout" as the menu type.

Google picks up VM2 product pages much better than VM1 product pages. The categoryname in the url is an advantage, because it tells Google what the content is about.
So my suggestion is, forget 3rd party SEF tools and when you go life with your new VM2 shop, create a redirect to your new shop homepage for your old urls.

At this time I have more than 1000 url already registered in Google
I cannot imagine to make a redirect 301 for each
The migration was already very hard. I am looking a solution to keep the same url structure like before if it's possible

The category write in the url can may be a good solution but I have removed it to have the possibility to change the category without change the url
or have the possibility to put a product into more than one url without make a duplicate content

As I have not found a solution with Joomsef or acesef, I would like to understand very well your solution
The better way for me, its to continue to use the sh404sef plugin

When I activate the sef on VM2 and use the plugin sh404sef, I have the solution for the product : domainename/productname.html
but all categories URL have the same URL : domainename/virtuemart.html
The problem comes because the sh404sef plugin receive a URL from VM2 with a suffix (here .html) for a product and without suffix for all other URL (also for cart)
Do you have a solution to have a suffix for all URL from VM2 (sef activated) ?

i have the same problem. I just have bought the virtuemart acesef extension but it doesn't work with VM 2. I wait an anwser from acesef team.
