virtuemart_product_customfields-custom_params for huge data variations

Hi, I'm trying to use Virtuemart to create a Tools Store (like the example data). This store will sell Bolts, a lot of Bolts and for some cases I will have a lot of variations as u can see in this site (just for example) http://www.fastenal.com/web/search/product/fasteners/bolts/cap-screws-hex-bolts/_/Navigation?searchterm=&sortby=webrank&sortdir=descending&searchmode=&refine=~|categoryl1:%22600000%20Fasteners%22|~%20~|categoryl2:%22600001%20Bolts%22|~%20~|categoryl3:%22600003%20Cap%20Screws%209and%20Hex%20Bolts%22|~ so, for this kind of variations a TEXT-like MySQL datatype in virtuemart_product_customfields-custom_params can't handle the problem. Can u increase the size of this field to MEDIUMTEXT ?

Second problem: This field content is hardcoded to the webpage, so, huge variations will create huge HTML files, there is a possibility to make this AJAX of something ?
