Objective: When i new shopper registrate his/hers account I'd like to assign the "default" shopper group to this account automatically.

In the function saveUserData($data) (administrator/components/com_virtuemart/models/user.php) even the creator writes "TODO, setting of shoppergroup isnt done", does anyone do how to accomplish this? It feels like I've been searhing everywhere.

Thanks for any ideas, hints... anything :)

OK ,

mmm the default shopper group is automatically registered against them already?

You do not have to assign then to that group or any group.

A registered person is registered and is in the default group and guest who buys with out registering is in the default group.

* what you are asking maybe? is I would like the registered group to have a "special group" - like gold or wholesaler.  For this group you could give them specials or a discount. And yes you have to add them manually to a special group.

* if you have products and you have added that product to the "default group"  this not they way the shop is initially  set up. This product should be at the "Shopper group" field set to be "blank" - no group.  Then the public (default) , registered (default) can buy that product.

there are other options you can set for the registered group -
