checkout step VM2 modify

Hello everyone

   i would like to modify the checkout step no shipment .... for select payment i have to add a new api to VM  .... but after payment when i come back to my cart the step payment isn't save it's mean i always back to step 2 can't go to confirm order or order done step

if someone can give me a solution please
