Custom Fields not adjusting price in Cart

Hi,

I am working on a client site which needs to set different postage costs per item. As this is not possible in VM2 and the plugin which exists for earlier versions of VM has not yet been adapted, I thought the easiest way to achieve this would be to add a custom 'Postage' field, from which the user could just select the postage and cost they wanted, add it to the product cost and then delivery would effectively be free.

I have set up the custom field using the settings:

Custom Field Type:    Cart Variant
Title: Postage
Published: Yes
Parent: none
Cart Attribute: Yes
Description: Postage
Default:
Tooltip: Please Select a Postage Method
Layout position:
Admin only: No
Is a list?: No
Hidden: No

When I go to add this to the products it works fine, and the options are displayed correctly. However, when I then click 'add to cart' the item is added at cost price, and no extra options are added.

I am using Joomla 2.5 and VM2. I am also using a custom template called shoplab. I'm not sure if this template is causing the issues, and what i really want to know is - where is the code which controls the adding of custom fields to the cart?

Thanks for any help!

Kate.

I have the same problem, for some reason Virtuemart always chooses the first option in the custom fieldlist... I'm using VM 2.0.7c and J! 1.5.26
