Lay-a-Way Program Request

In this day and age where lots of people are hard up for cash, some customers want to utilize a lay away program that allows them to partially pay for a product.

Can this be tracked within the system being linked to the customers account?

I already have a client whos requesting this feature and I'm sure it would be nice to have in the future for everyone. Thanks!

Since very few people would require this, which is a form of credit and subject to local trading laws,  it would be best introduced as a plugin. Maybe you can commission a developer to produce it? And then sell it to any others who may require it.
