Sales Tax applying before entering shipping address

We are using the newest version of VirtueMart and have an issue with sales tax.  The shop is applying sales tax to an order until a person puts in their shipping address.  We don't want it to apply tax until the shipping address has been entered.  Is there a way to change this as it is very confusing to shoppers and our client is not happy with this.  Thanks.

Yes I want that too...

I want the tax to be calculated based on the shopper address... I have made 2 different tax rules that apply in different parts of the country.
NEED help asap.

Just a thought,

I have made several shops with the same products , different states, different countries, : I did this with VM1 - to get the same effect you are asking for. (they had very few products)

In one shop - I had two site - two different folders - the home link had pick where you are from. ( It just had two countries.)

Or you make the varients like price options - for different states.

Others I set paypal to determine the final price for tax based upon the address - ( this was stated clearly on the front page of the shop) that some tax varients will be added by paypal depending on state taxes and shipping.

* Not a bad option for the core team to consider - add your zip code first and process changes price.

To fix this, go the the product that your tax rule should affect, and under the first tab [Product Information], under[Pricing rules overrides], you should set [Tax] to [apply no rule] ..

Save the product and it should work!

that is just turning off the taxes -

The issues in this post applies to a different tax ( depending on the zip code of the buyer)?
And not just just his country - I'm sure that a the issue is being looked at as I have seen quite a few posts regarding
some states having state and federal taxes on sales of goods from the sellers end - here you want a tax on the buyers end.
maybe put  your request in features and bugs - for a development idea. I know shipping is done is the same manner so should not be too difficult ( when a plugin is developed)

saw something in a post just now - not sure about the real relevance but close to an option you might think about .
