VM and Joomla! 1.6

Hello VM team,

I was just to curious to know what the upcoming Joomla! 1.6 version means for VM.
The new features coming in J 1.6 are really great, such as nested categories, new ACL, new nomenclature etc... and especially major code optimization and other "dev goodies".

Are you already working on a new version of VM optimized for J 1.6?

Nothing you mentioned has to do anything with VM, further more Joomla 1.6 is at least 6 months away.

We hope to utilize some of the new things being developed with Joomla 1.6.  The next major release of VM will begin to rely more heavily on the Joomla fraework that it has in the past so we are watching Joomla developments.

This may be stating the obvious but i cant see it posted anywhere else...

When changes are made to Virtuemart for Joomla! 1.6 I would need to be able to configure which Joomla User Group new users created by Virtuemart are to be allocated to.

The joomla groups and rightsmanagment is under development.

But we are in contact with them. But much more important than joomla 1.6 is vm1.5.

The timeline for the first RC is january.

But we decided to port the frontend also, ... so it will take a bit longer
