How to make Pay Pal Update the order Status?

Would someone be kind enough to let me know?

After a customer paid for a product through pay pal.
How do I make virtuemart automatically change the order status from pending to confirmed?

One last quick question - if the person has purchased an e-book for example, and they are now logged in to the site, is there a download section that the person can go to in order to check their purchases and downloads?

Hi;  do we still need to apply this patch for PayPal pro to new version VirtueMart 1.1.7 ?

That patch was old. I don't know if it is needed with 1.1.7 as I have never had PayPal confirmation issues so have no way to test.
