stability and reliability of virtuemart

Dear friends of the community,

I have a BIG question for you...

Until now, I have used the virtuemart just for small shops (100-300 articles). Now I have a client that must handle a shop with more than 3000 articles. And for sure it will have a traffic of more of 1000 customers per month.

Is virtuemart *reliable*?

Does anybody has used virtuemart for a shop of this size?

I need some *honest* answer about this.
