Download plugin stopped working.

So we are using VirtueMart 4.2.2 with the istraxx Download Plugin (the full one (https://extensions.virtuemart.net/product/download-module-detail), not the free minimal one that comes with Virtuemart) and it worked fine. We did have some issues with the design of the customer account page and just to be sure that plugin (which does add an overview of the customers downloads to that page) isn't involved somehow I unpublished it. Checked and found it apparently was not the origin of the problem. So I published the plugin again, but now it fails to populate said overview on the customers account page. It only displays this message: "Currently there are no downloads available - please contact the store office. "
This is true for all accounts, no matter if the existed before or are new, no matter if there are actually valid downloads or not and no matter if those downloads were purchased before or after I unpublished the plugin. The other parts of the plugin still work somewhat. For downloads that existed before the unpublishing, if one calls up the order directly, the link is displayed there and works fine. But no new DL links are generated anymore. And the overview for some reason completely refuses to work. If anyone has an idea how to get solved, I would appreciate the help.
