Mix of free shipping and paid shipping

I have a not too complicated setup in that there is a paid postage and a free postage (for digital items only)

So i setup the Paid postage "blocking" the digital items
and i setup the free postage allowing the Digital categories

This still means that the "paid" postage shows when they order a digital item, but it is likely that a user might order both digital and paid for postage items so i want in this case only the paid option to show.

Is there a best way to setup shipping for a case like this please?

I normally use weights for this

give digital a tiny weight -- any physical something over say 1kg and set the paid shipping min weight at 1kg

Thanks yes that could work - i am assuming:

digital products all have 1g weight
Physical products all have 1kg weight

But this still means that if they order both a physical and a digital item the shipping for the digital (free) shows up (aswell as the physical paid postage) and the user might select that and get away with free postage?

Is that something i can get around?

Ok thanks for your help finally cracked this. for anyone else struggling:

ALL digital items all set to 1gram weight
ALL physical items set to 1KG weight

physical Shipping lowest weight: 1kg and highest 9kg
digital shipping lowest weight: 1g and highest 9g

seems easy when you write it all down
