*Solved* 0 Failed opening required ......... com_virtuemart/helpers/config.php

Can anyone please advise me as to how I can correct this issue?

An error has occurred.
0 Failed opening required '/home/********/www/www/administrator/components/com_virtuemart/helpers/config.php' (include_path='.:/usr/local/php81/lib/php')

I'm using Joomla! 3.10.9 and Virtuemart is no longer installed. I've even removed any related tables from the database but when I try to update any Joomla plugins/components or uninstall them I always get the error message.

Any help is appreciated.

1st enable full error reporting so u know where the error is coming from

At a guess you still have system plugin "VM Framework Loader during Plugin Updates" installed and enabled?

Thanks for your help.

It was a plugin called 'VM Framework Loader during Plugin Updates' that was still enabled so gave it the boot then installed all the available extension updates  :-)

First though I switched on the debugging and maximum error reporting and then immediately the whole site and admin was gone showing several lines of depreciated error messages on a white page. Bit of a panic at first but then went to the hosting panel and changed the php version down to 7.1 (from 8.1) and the site returned again. Seems that error reporting on PHP8.1 is a bit buggy?

@Andrew - or the install ran out of memory displaying the debug?  Often happens unless u have say > 512MB allocated

I disable the debug plugin and this is often enough to see the actual php errors and trace

www/www ? I doubt that was an error rooted in vm
