PayPal smart buttons not showing in product page

Hello.
i am using PayPal express checkout and it should generate a "buy now" button on the product page, but if I use "smart buttons" nothing shows.
If I use the standard "express" without smart buttons, I can see a banner (see attachments).

Already tried with another template and the issue seems to be in the payment plugin.
How to solve?
