Use Amazon S3 for Virtual Products

I have the Virtual Shipment plugin installed, but I want to use Amazon S3 to store the downloadable products. Is there a way I can do this, or do the products HAVE to be stored on the local server?

I already wanted us S3 fro another case, but the problem is how to protect the link and in this case the virtuemart Shipment plugin cannot work because you need to acces to cloudfront with a token or any user can find the link to your S3 files.
