VM 3.2.2 Issue with URLs when product belongs to both parent and child category

I think I've discovered a bug in VM 3.2.2 (running on Joomla 3.7.3 / PHP 7.0.20 / MySQL 5.6.35)

When a featured product belongs to multiple categories, but one is the parent of another, trying to visit the product page via the "Featured Products" or the search results (VM search page) results in a broken product page and an error message.
Also, when clicking "back" on your browser navigation, you receive a message "Category not found".

Visiting product page via the category browse page works fine.

I can supply login info to a demo setup that I have.

Ah, also I discovered that the URL on "broken" products is missing the subcategory (contains only parent category) but when I type the missing URL information in the address bar, the product page works.
