Sending email to vendor on receiving order?

Hello people,
My problem is that I want an email to be sent to the vendors (or simply to a selection of email addresses if that's possible) on receiving an order (no matter its order status). I have tried the following methods, based on what I read here and on other forums:
-Adding "Pending" to the "Default Order Status to send email to vendor"-list. Since Pending is the default order status I should receive an email on receiving an order. However, this gives me a 0 Invalid Address error on my website on clicking Confirm Order.
-Setting the default order status to something other than Pending, listed by default in "Default Order Status to send email to vendor". I also get a 0 Invalid Address error when I try to order something.
My email settings are ok, since test emails sent by Joomla do arrive. I have checked my spam folder.
My Virtuemart version is 3.0.18 running on Joomla 3.5.1

I assume because 3.0.18 is intended for J3.6.2 -- but probably connected to this answer if not

Thank you, updating Joomla to 3.6.2 fixed the problem. I am now receiving email as I'm supposed to :D.
