No PayPal IPN on some transactions

VM 3.0.16

Last night two orders from USA using PyaPal came through to my site but the usual IPNs were not received.

IPNs for orders before and after, from Europe, using the same pament method worked fine.

At the PayPal end the transactions are marked as completed and the money received but in the IPN history there is no record of the transactions. The earlier and later tranaction IPN are listed normally.

I think this must be a PP problem and and not VM.

Has anyone else ever experienced anything similar?

There are many reasons why the IPN may fail .. lots on the forum about it.. but your IPN Paypal history is the place to start...

Yes, the IPN history had nothing for the two trasnactions.  No record of any failures, no record of them of them being sent at the time of the sales.

However this morning 35 and 36 hours late the IPNs have been received, and now are listed in the history.

Previously when there has been an issue with an IPN I have resent it via the history page but, as I said, the transactions were not listed in history but the money was in my account.

I have raised a support issue with PayPal so it will be interesting to see what they have to say - if anything. To me it feels like someone at PP has kicked something into action.

Sounds definitely a PP issue, one off events are often difficult to track down.

Not surprisingly.  I would not expect you to get a useful response.

Thank you for updating the forum though - it may help others in the future.

Agree with AH - I have seen definite PP issues in the past .. but of course they will never admit it..   ;)

Surprisingly PP have acknowledged the problem...
