Calculation rule not applied to child variants

Hi, hopefully someone can help with this issue!

Running a clothing store on v2.6.6, Joomla 2.5.24, Unfortunately, upgrading from this version is not currently an option.
We are trying to apply product discounts using Calculation rules. We can apply the rule to the parent products, which display the correctly calculated discounted price in product views. However, none of the child products (various sizes) carry this rule, meaning when they are added to the cart, they are the full price.

At present, the only way to achieve what we're looking to do is to apply the calculation rule to each child product. As we have over 1000 items in the store, this is certainly not the way forward!

Does anyone know a work around to get the selected Calculation Rule to propagate to all the relevant child products.

Any help is appreciated!

Dave

with such an old version who knows..  but the usual way would be to add all the required products to a single category (unpublished) and apply the discount to that cat

For future reference...

Adding the products into dummy categories didn't work, although it should have!

After a few hours of playing around, it transpires the client had entries in the cost price field for the child products. Once these price entries were removed, the parent product Calculation Rule settings propagated through to the child products when put in the cart.

Kind of obvious really!
