Virtuemart 3 and AWO Gift Certificates no shipping cost

Hi forum,

Hope you can assist.

Products are at a delivery cost of R55 and Gift vouchers are set to free delivery.

Once the user adds a product to the cart, is there a way to auto select the shipping cost? Depending if there a product is in the cart or a gift voucher only?

I don't want the user to select the shipping cost, the functionality isn't practical for the understanding of the average customer.

If it's only a gift voucher in the cart then the cart should go straight to the checkout process, without selecting the delivery cost.

If there are products in the cart then the shipping cost will automatically be added.

I would just like to skip the shipment selection process.

Plus, once I remove the product out of the cart then the R55 (Delivery cost) should be removed as well, and at the moment when I remove a product out the cart then the delivery cost stays, then when I add a gift voucher to the cart then the R55 is still there, and an option to select delivery appears. I do not want that option/selection, but if I do not select the delivery then that R55 gets added to the gift voucher payment, which is incorrect because there should be no delivery charge on a gift voucher that the customer can download.

Please assist if you can. Or direct me in the correct direction.

This has been covered before here. You do not mention which versions you are using, but the principle is the same.  Add a weight of Zero to the gift card products, and if the shipped products do not have weights set up then make them all (eg) 1, but if they have weights set then leave as is.
Set up a standard weight/countries shipping plugin, name it something like "Free shipping for gift certificates", configure the highest weight at 0.01 and ship cost left empty.
Then in Config/Checkout you may need to configure "Enable Automatic Selected Payment"  (varies between VM versions) and try a test purchase.

Thanks for the response, VirtueMart 3.0.6.2 is my version.

I'm using the AwoCoupons plugin for the gift voucher process, and this plugin doesn't use the weight amount.

That isn't the issue though, the issue I'm receiving is when a customer removes a product from the cart then the delivery cost is not removed as well.

Can you assist with that process? Cause then the user will never see the selected delivery costs if the delivery charge is always removed from the cart correctly.

Well your VM version is well out of date. The Awo extension does not include weight, but the standard shipping plugin does, and you can set a zero weight for each of your gift cert products.

The other issue may be solved by updating.

Hi Jenkin Hill,

I tried the update and it completed but it just ended up changing my template CSS and the delivery cost was still there once I removed a product from the cart.

I have done a restore to my to my site, just to get the previous look and feel again, and seeing that the upgrade done nothing to help my delivery window.

Does anyone else maybe know how to solve this issue?

I use the paid version of AwoCoupons  but not sure if there is another version I should be using for gift certificates.

Did you get this working for VM 3 ??
