Paypal using Sandbox - stays on Pending

Hi,

J2.5.17/VM2.0.26b
Using Paypal standard in sandbox mode - payment goes thru and callback received but the order remains on Confirmed by Shopper with the message :

The payment for order bbe9016 is pending state. Reason:The payment is pending because it was made to an email address that is not yet registered or confirmed.

In the Paypal VM admin the settings are
Payment action -> Direct
Successful transactions -> Confirmed

the log shows OK

but you see the U status

Is this how it is supposed to work?
What does this mean? -> an email address that is not yet registered or confirmed

registered or confirmed where? how?

The payment is pending because it was made to an email address that is not yet registered or confirmed.

this is a message returned by Paypal explaining why PayPal did not complete the transaction.

Check your sandbox parameters: in the "settings" tab you have
Payment review
Review test payments before they're completed.
on / off

set that parameter to off

but that setting  - (after spending 10mins finding it - do Paypal ever try their own totally unintuitive interface???) 
log into https://developer.paypal.com
go to Applications
Sandbox Accounts on the left
If you haven't used your Sandbox in a while they won't be there - you have to import them  - (this is a one time process)
Then they appear - click on the account and there is a settings menu

it is and was definitely OFF (even though with their trendy css3 "who knows if this is selected or not" buttons and no "Save" button I tried it in both settings) it still comes back as Pending

[payment_status] => Pending

Test, you just completed your payment.
Your transaction ID for this payment is: 9VL3228605927125W.
We'll send a confirmation email to webbuy_1288262742_per@******.com.

Guess we just have to live with it unless you have any other ideas? - this info might help someone else

yes i agree

it still comes back as Pending

[payment_status] => Pending

hum i can't think of another parameter that will cause this
i did not try to migrate my old sandboxes. And just created new sandboxes  to develop the new paypal plugin.
May be you can try to create a new sandbox to test ?

Sadly no..
just made a new facilitator (where do they get these words?     and still came back as Pending

this is with mystery button on or off - so appears this setting is ignored by Paypal

I do not have that problem at all.
I would like to understand why you this.
Check may be connecting directly to the sandbox account, and in the "preferences" menu.

yes i saw. But their are already a lot of threads about that subject, and how the tax is calculated.

Done that - waded thru screen after screen of settings and see nothing that has anything to do with the Pending settings..

tada!

finally got to the bottom of this - appears that until you "accept" at least once in the sandbox psuedo account admin of the account you paid it TO the setting is ignored...

assume this then qualifies the "The payment is pending because it was made to an email address that is not yet registered or confirmed."

Accepted one payment - tried another and it went thru as Confirmed - more knowledge gained at the price of a couple of hours...

I know this is an old thread, but since it helped me out, I wanted to give a big Thank You for this

I had to make a new sandbox account, have not been able to find the old accounts that I used some 5 years ago. The new account mrechant did not proccess payments and stated that the payers e-mail was either not registered or not verified. The status update only got as far as confirmed by shopper. This has been driving med crazy because the payer account had a verified e-mail. But seeing Your post and going into my sandbox merchant account and accepting the first order payment all the other got magically processed and received the status CONFIRMED.

If I had been able to keep my old sandbox accounts this would probably not have been an issue. Once accepted the settings seem to allow the processing of payments.
