2.0.18 or 2.0.20?

I have a 2.0.20 install and a 2.0.18a install. My 2.0.20 install indicates there is an update available but wants to install 2.0.18a?!? On the other hand my 2.0.18a site says I have the latest version.

Which is correct?

Joomla 2.5.9
PHP 5.3.16

Milbo

your 2.0.18a is correct.

The updater shows you the official releases. Example 2.0.20 is better than 2.0.18a, but 2.0.20 has a stupid error atm for a fresh install. You can fix it with clickiviewi style, just using the tools, but stupid for beginners. I think the 2.0.20a will be official again.

Thank you, Milbo! When will 20a be available?

finbarr69

2.0.18a is offered as an update but doesn't exist.  http://virtuemart.net/component/ars/repository/virtuemart/virtuemart-2-0-18a/com_virtuemart.2.0.18a.zip gives a broken zip.  Only the BETA is offered for download on the website. :-(

Hope this helps.

It is here: http://virtuemart.net/downloads

Or here http://dev.virtuemart.net/projects/virtuemart/files

The built in Akeeba Release System is not always reliable on some servers.

Thank you.  :-)  It's not very obvious.  I'd suggest the Beta should not be in a big bold box, but the latest stable should be?

Thank you! the "update to the latest version" button in VM is working again :-)

Hi, I would like to update VM 2.0.18 to the latest version but I shows a lot of errors and then the cart stops working. So I  tried upgrading from 2.0.18 to 2.0.20b firtst - but the problem is that products then lose assigned categories and database update tools - Update if necessary install tables does not help.

Please advise...is there a way to update to the latest version?

Just update to VM2.6.14 using the Joomla extensions manager.  http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=123808.0

From that old version there will be some configuration changes that will be required, and possibly some template overrides (if used) may need editing.

I have never had problems with updating stable VM versions.

I have tried upgrading directly to 2.6.14 now and it seems fine, only minicart is broken...
the original minicart looked like this: www.sebimoto.com : http://imtp.me/8q3n02lj3
and the new at http://www.test1.sebimoto.com/ looks like this: http://imtp.me/8q3o02lj3

could you advise what should be changed to make it work, please?

jenkinhill

That is a third party template. You will need to ask the suppier to provide a fix, or use Firebug to try to work it out.  http://forum.virtuemart.net/index.php?topic=108212.0

Milbo

We changed the JS a bit, so that cart developers can use their own. It is not a big deal.

Since templatemonster support told me that the template is only up to VM 2.0.20, I had to disable the prices and product names in shopping cart module settings and now it works with the link and button - but there is no dropdown menu. As long as customer can complete the order, it is just small issue...;)
