Custom field cart variant modifies base price but not the overridden price?

Managed to set up a custom field cart variant working nicely (displaying the price with tax with the "Display variant prices with tax" checked). But when I try to use the same cart variant on a product that has an overridden price, the cart variant effects the base price only - thus having no effect.
Is there a setting for that aswell?

Overriden price means  a final price that is not affected by any variant (not calc. rules, not custom fields)
There is no reason to use the price override if you want your price to be affected by the custom fields

Ok, thanks. I use the over-ride price to show a discount. Any other way to show a discount and use a cf cart variant?

That is, the dropdown shows the price with vat included but the amount added seems to be the amount without vat? (if the discount rule is chosen, not if apply generic rules or no rules is chosen)

Use the "price modifier before tax" for your discount rule. This way you can select it only for the base price and keep the "apply generic rules" or the tax for the final price

Thanks, but the only selectable in the base price seem to be taxes. My price modifier does not show up (and it says "Tax Affecting: " beside the base price)?

There are 2 drop-down lists. Check them both.
By setting 1 rule before the final price and the other after you should be able to see them both
